Possibly most famous from the movie "south pacific" bora bora was known as "bali Hai" but the mountain of "bali Hai" is actually on Moorea. and, the two islands are no where near each other. You can see tahiti from moorea, but you can not see bora bora from moorea or vice-versa. Bora Bora is said to have seven shades of blue between the sky and the water. the unbelievable crystal clear turquois water . an intriguing thing between the pale turqouis shallow spots and dark navy blue deep spots, where the deep areas of dark navy blue come together with the shallow areas of pale turquois meet and literally draw a straight line. the two colors touching side by side with no gradiation at all.
